Through workshops, courswork and events we offer training and development in specialised, under serviced and extracurricular areas of education.

With accessibility at the heart of our work, EQRA Centre offers both paid and free services to our community.  We are incredibly grateful that we get to work and collaborate with some of  Somaliland's most talented and skilled teachers, artists, content creators, academics, and business gurus to provide these services!

EQRA is Hargeisa's first integrated community space. Our programs reach thousands of people each year and continue to grow in the most exciting and organic ways.

Our Story

Get to Know Us

Born out of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in Somaliland, EQRA Centre was established in 2021 by sisters Ayan and Mona Liban. As a women-led social enterprise, EQRA is driven by a deep passion to uplift Hargeisa’s community through the arts.

What began as a modest after-school program to celebrate and revive the arts—long overlooked in Somaliland’s school curriculums—quickly blossomed into a vibrant art and community hub. Today, EQRA is a welcoming space for over 1,000 learners each year, and it proudly hosts a diverse array of artists, poets, writers, performers, and educators.

Through creativity and collaboration, we strive to nurture talent, inspire hearts, and bring people together.
